Magister Ilmu Hama Tanaman / Master in Pest Science

Program Magister Ilmu Hama Tanaman UGM berdiri pada tahun 1980/1981 dan dikukuhkan melalui Surat Keputusan Direktur Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi Nomor 580/DIKTI/Kep/1993 diselenggarakan di bawah Fakultas Pascasarjana Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Sejak tahun ajaran 2007/2008 berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Rektor UGM tentang Program Pascasarjana Monodisiplin Nomor 89/P/SK/HT/2006, Program Magister Ilmu Hama Tanaman berpindah kedudukan berada di bawah Departemen Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan (HPT) Fakultas Pertanian UGM. Nama program studi dikukuhkan berdasarkan Surat Keputusan Rektor Universitas Gadjah Mada Nomor 1718/UN1.P/SK/Hukor/2017 Tentang Penamaan Program Studi di Lingkungan Universitas Gadjah Mada. Program studi Magister Ilmu Hama Tanaman memiliki tujuan: Lulusan mampu mengidentifikasi, menganalisis, dan memecahkan masalah hama di lapangan dengan memanfaatkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi serta mendasarkannya pada keamanan dan keberlanjutan ekosistem pertanian. Lulusan memiliki pengetahuan dasar yang cukup di bidang Ilmu Hama, kemampuan berpikir, dan penalaran sehingga mampu melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan berikutnya (S3) atau menduduki jabatan strategis di bidang perlindungan tanaman. Lingkungan program studi bersifat dinamis dan kondusif bagi seluruh sivitas akademika untuk terus mengembangkan diri, mengikuti perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi terkini, serta berkontribusi dalam memecahkan masalah nasional. Terlaksananya Tridharma (pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat) secara berkesinambungan dan keterkaitan yang erat antara teori/konsep-permasalahan-pencarian solusi yang melibatkan mahasiswa S1 sehingga mahasiswa senantiasa tertantang untuk terus mengembangkan kemampuannya, salah satunya melalui pendidikan jenjang yang lebih tinggi.

The Master’s Program in Plant Pest Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada was established in the 1980/1981 academic year and formally confirmed through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 580/DIKTI/Kep/1993. Initially administered under the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, the program was reassigned in the 2007/2008 academic year to the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, pursuant to the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada Decree No. 89/P/SK/HT/2006 concerning Monodisciplinary Graduate Programs. The official name of the study program was subsequently reaffirmed through the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada Decree No. 1718/UN1.P/SK/Hukor/2017 on the Naming of Study Programs within Universitas Gadjah Mada. The Master’s Program in Plant Pest Science aims to produce graduates who are capable of identifying, analyzing, and solving pest-related problems in the field by applying scientific knowledge and technology while upholding principles of safety and sustainability within agricultural ecosystems. Graduates are expected to possess a solid foundation in plant pest science, along with strong analytical and reasoning skills, enabling them to pursue doctoral-level education or assume strategic positions in the field of plant protection. The program fosters a dynamic and supportive academic environment that encourages all members of the academic community to continuously develop their competencies, remain responsive to advances in science and technology, and contribute to the resolution of national-level challenges. In addition, the program is committed to the sustained implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education—education, research, and community service—through close integration of theory, problem identification, and solution development, involving undergraduate students and motivating them to further enhance their academic capacities, including through advanced levels of education.
