Magister Linguistik / Master in Linguistics

Program Studi Magister Linguistik, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada didirikan pada 29 September 1993 dengan keputusan Dirjendikti, Depdikbud RI No. 580/DIKTI/Kep/1993. Sebelum terbitnya SK tersebut, Program Studi Magister Linguistik FIB UGM merupakan peminatan pada Progam Pascasarjana dan sudah ada sejak awal tahun 1980-an. Program studi ini memiliki visi untuk menjadi program studi linguistik yang bermutu tinggi, yang berorientasi nasional, aktif, tanggap terhadap permasalahan kebahasaan dan perkembangan ilmu linguistik, dan mampu menjadi program studi linguistik terkemuka di kawasan Asia Pasifik. Setiap tahun Prodi Magister Linguistik FIB UGM menerima 70—120 mahasiswa baru, berasal dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia dan luar negeri. Prodi Magister Linguistik FIB UGM merupakan prodi magister linguistik di Indonesia dengan jumlah mahasiswa yang besar. Alumni Program Studi ini tersebar ke berbagai daerah di Indonesia dan luar negeri, mereka pada umumnya telah mendapatkan posisi yang baik di tempat kerjanya

The Master’s Program in Linguistics at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was formally established on 29 September 1993 under the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 580/DIKTI/Kep/1993. Prior to the issuance of this decree, the Master’s Program in Linguistics at FIB UGM functioned as a specialization within the Graduate Program and had existed since the early 1980s. The program aspires to become a high-quality linguistics study program with a strong national orientation, characterized by active engagement, responsiveness to linguistic issues and developments in linguistic scholarship, and the capacity to emerge as a leading linguistics program in the Asia-Pacific region. Each year, the Master’s Program in Linguistics at FIB UGM admits approximately 70 to 120 new students from diverse regions across Indonesia as well as from abroad. It is one of the largest master’s-level linguistics programs in Indonesia in terms of student enrollment. Alumni of the program are widely distributed throughout Indonesia and internationally, and the majority have attained well-established professional positions in their respective fields.
